Haunted World Of El Superbeasto, The - 2/5

I'm still not sure what to think of this odd romp of debauchery and humor. Honestly, I was looking for anything to make up for the shit storm that was "Halloween II" from the Rob Zombie camp and I didn't find it here.

As a cartoon, it reminds me a lot of the style of cartoons from the 90s look and theme. It's "Ren and Stimpy" through the eyes of Rob Zombie really. That part I didn't mind, the style is pretty interesting (all be it far from anything Disney is going to touch in quality). It has some fun with the animation and even might appeal to those whom like "The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy".

As for the humor element of this comedy, its hit or miss. It's either hysterically funny or down right look around awkwardly dumb. I was laughing hardcore at all the great Horror film references through out the film, but by 15 minutes in I was tired of breast jokes. All right, I get it. You like punch lines about boobs, Rob Zombie...and showing them in cartoon form. Great. Once or twice might work but the damn movie turned into a damn pornographic bad joke by the end and not even one of those so bad its funny jokes. Just bad bad. It tried so hard to push that R rating even in cartoon form it was sad.

I do have to recommend the musicians that worked on the songs in the film. They were the best part about it. The ridiculous things they sang about that were happening and of course the ripping off "Carrie" tune was classic shit. They were the definite highlight of the cartoon for me.

Although, I wanted this to make up for "H2", I should have known better. Although "El Superbeasto" has its moments, its far from something that I will watch multiple times. Even with some pretty solid voice work of Paul Giamatti as Dr. Satan (again with Dr. Satan...leave it be Zombie!). Let's just hope Rob Zombie's new album isn't the let down his last two films were.
